- wooden boxes
- pencil cases
- baskets
- clipboards
- photo frames and more.
Wooden boxes are ideal for storing various trinkets, jewelry and any other small items that you want to keep in a safe place. The goodies we offer are not decorated. That is why, now we will suggest several ways to decorate and personalize wooden objects that you can adapt to your style and preferences.
Paint them
- For starters, it’s a good idea to remove the hinges and clasp , if there are any, in case you don’t want to paint them. If you want them to be painted too, you can leave them on.
- The next step is to smooth the surface of the wood very nicely using sandpaper. Use gentle circular motions and apply pressure to smooth out any uneven areas so the paint adheres tightly to the wood.
- After you have already chosen the paint color that you will use for your box or wooden object, it is time to paint it. It is best to use acrylic paint for a glossier look on an item. Avoid oil paints as they need a long time to dry.
- Start painting your wooden object by applying a thin layer of paint, then let it dry for about 15-20 minutes . Paint the outer surface first, using long, straight strokes so the brush lines aren’t too visible as you work.
- After it dries, apply another 1-2 layers of paint if you want a denser and more saturated color. To hide the possible lines left by the brush during the second painting, change the direction. For example, if you started painting with horizontal movements in the first paint, then in the second let them be vertical.
- When the paint is completely dry, if you wish, you can add additional decoration by gently removing the paint in places with the help of sandpaper. Focus on areas where the paint would naturally fall off over time to achieve an aged retro look.
- Finally, cover the entire object with clear varnish to protect the painted surface. Allow the polish to dry for 4 hours or until it is completely tack free and then apply a second coat.
You can choose between glossy or matte varnish, it is important not to forget that varnish fumes can be quite harmful, so it is important to work in a ventilated room and take frequent break.
Decoupage
What is decoupage?
Decoupage is an applied decoration technique that originated in the 12th century in China, spread widely during the Middle Ages in Europe, and in the last twenty years has gained momentum again as one of the most popular and easy ways to decorate.
The word "decoupage" itself comes from French and means "to cut". Or to put it simply, decoupage is an art technique that can be used to decorate any object using paper and glue.
How do we decorate objects made of wood or laser cut chipboard using the decoupage technique?
Required materials
- Your chosen item
- Acrylic paint and acrylic varnish
- Decoupage glue
- Scissors
- Napkins
How is it done?
Once you have already chosen the object you will decorate, it is important to first clean it inside and out with a damp cloth and dry it well.
Step number two is to apply a layer of acrylic paint over it. Here again, it is desirable that the painting movements are long and straight. When you apply the first coat, let the paint dry for about 15-20 minutes.
Now is the time to prepare the decoration you wish to add to your item. Using scissors, cut out the flower motif, as if using a two- or three-layer napkin, it is unnecessary to remove the excess layers.
- The next stage is to determine the place you want to decorate, then to glue it. Start by placing the image on the object and press firmly. Apply the glue, making sure that no bubbles appear in the middle, if they still appear, smooth them out very carefully, trying not to tear the napkin.
When applying the glue, it is important to apply it from the center outwards and apply a thin and even layer over the entire surface. After you’re done, let it dry for at least 24 hours. When the glue is completely dry, cover the decorated object with a layer of clear acrylic varnish to seal it.
Ideas for decorating with wooden pegs
Interesting applications of decorative clips:
- You can write on them and use them to organize your notebooks! It is such a cool way to replace the colored sticky tapes. By replacing the strips with the wooden clips, your accessories will look much more spectacular, and you will be plastic free.
- Use them as a book divider for your books, magazines and textbooks.
- With the help of two clips, you can hold a cooking recipe so you do not have to touch the paper with dirty hands while cooking!
- You can use it to hold the guests name tags on weddings, birthdays or other parties and celebrations.
- Use it to organize photos or to create an art corner with different drawings in the home.
- If you add a small magnet to them, they would become beautiful decorations for your fridge or holders for various notes, notes, lists or photos.
- Use as a decoration for various cards, invitations or scrapbook albums
- An ideal choice for all kinds of embossed 3D decorations, cards and albums, envelopes, collages, boxes, photo frames, appliqués and more.
- For pinching small packages regardless of their contents.
- Using a lot of clips you can create interesting shapes that you can then hang on the wall or by placing some kind of base to use as a table decoration for the table, desk or bedside table.
- One of the most interesting and creative projects you can create using wooden clips is a candle holder. You just need an item to go around with one or more rows of clips and you’re done.
- Make your mirror unique by decorating it with multi-colored or natural-looking wooden clips.
- Use it as a spool around which you can wrap threads.
- Fasten some pegs to a wooden board and paint them in the color of your choice - you have a beautiful vintage clothes hanger.
- Use it to decorate your table: put on napkins or plates (for this you will need to separate the two parts of the clip from its metal part and glue them back-to-back, then you just connect all the pairs in one circle and in the end, you will get beautiful coasters for cups or plates).
- Shade for a table lamp or hanging from the ceiling (for this project you will also need wire to make the base of the lampshade).
How to use wooden spoons in our daily life?
In the kitchen
In household use, wooden spoons are ahead of all other materials in that they do not heat up to a burning temperature as quickly, do not react chemically with acidic foods, and do not scratch dishes as their metal counterparts do. They don’t melt or give off harmful chemicals or strange flavors when they come in contact with hot foods like plastic.
For better maintenance, you can treat all wooden spoons, sticks and objects with nutty dry oils such as hemp, walnut or linseed.
You can use our spoons for the barbecue, when preparing cocktails or salads or to avoid the unpleasant scratching of cookware you would otherwise get with plastic or metal spoons!
In order to be more environmentally friendly, the mass usage of plastic straws has to be avoided, so we also offer bamboo ones. And we achieve the 2 in 1 effect – we don’t use plastic in everyday life and invest in a long-lasting and modern product.
Why not also paint on or decorate your wooden spoons? Ignite your imagination and create a new decoration for your interior.
Ah, what’s better than making a gift for someone yourself? You can never do wrong with a gift that is not only creative but also practical.
Wooden spoons and sticks add warmth and elegance to the interior in their own special way. And when they are well kept and used, they age like fine wine!
How to care for wooden spoons and chopsticks?
- Clean them well after each use . This is best done by soaking them in a big bowl of water and some Vero or liquid soap. They can also be put in the dishwasher, but it is not preferable, they can get damaged from the detergents.
- If there are food residues, you can rub the wooden spoons with a sponge to remove them.
- Rinse them with warm water and let them dry well.
- And of course optionally, if you want your wooden spoons to look like new for a longer period of time, brush them once a month with some type of nut butter, preferably walnut and linseed oil. The oil will extend the life of the product. Use only after the oil is completely absorbed.
Wooden figurines
The wooden flower figurines, as their name suggests, are made of wood and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. There is a small adhesive on the back so that they can be easily attached to the surface of your choice.
Like anything else made of wood, these figurines will bring a lot of beauty and authenticity to all your designs and ideas.
What can you use the wooden flower figurines for?
